8 x 8 Argo Backcountry Tour

If you are looking to explore the Alaska backcountry by land, we have a trip designed just for you! Destination Alaska purchased five brand new Argo Conquest 950 Outfitters. We chose this type of vehicle specifically for their light foot print and impact on the environment.  The lbs. per Sq/Ft on tracks is one of the lightest in the industry.  These 8x8 amphibious tracked vehicles will take you places that other machines simply cannot go. Let’s get started! Your trip begins at our Beluga Lake office at 9:00 a.m. where we’ll size everyone up for waterproof hip boots. Yes…. it’s going to be that kind of adventure! At the office, we’ll complete some paperwork, give you a brief description of the day, and go over some trail maps to plan our route of travel. Now, load up and follow us out to the trailhead at the end of Kachemak Bay. The drive out East End road has some of the best views in the state. Mountains, glaciers, an old forest fire area, and alpine meadows are just a few of the things you’ll see on this journey. Once we arrive at the launch site, we’ll have a short driving lesson and safety brief and we’re off! You’ll spend the next several hours navigating through the swamps and forests searching for moose and other wildlife that call this part of the woods home. Fantastic views are an added bonus as we make our way out to Matthew's Mountain. Once at the peak we’ll take a break and have a hearty lunch. Nothing builds an appetite like fresh air and driving through mud. After lunch, we’ll explore even more backcountry as we make our way back the landing. Are you up for the challenge?
